Beginning at 7AM EST, Friday January 28th our staff will be upgrading the IMAP mail server to the Dovecot IMAP system on the following servers:

  • breakout.whspn.net
  • defender.whspn.net
  • donkeykong.whspn.net
  • galaga.whspn.net
  • tron.whspn.net

Expected downtime of email service is estimated roughly at 1 Hour (Both IMAP & POP will be affected). After the upgrade has been completed some IMAP users may need to re-subscribe\re-sync to their mail folders. This can be completed by logging into the webmail system at http://YOURDOMAIN.com/webmail and selecting SquirrelMail. Upon logging into SquirrelMail, select 'Folders' and simply move any folders over that you do not see already upon logging into SquirrelMail initally.

We are currently utlizing the Courier-IMAP system and although it has served us well, this new Dovecot IMAP system is highly reliable and can be configured to a larger extent than Courier, it also has a smaller memory footprint which makes the service much faster for our clients. We have tested this mail system thouroughly and have been running it extensively on three of our other servers (sonic\pong\tetris) for the past few months with great results.Users on these 3 servers will not be affected by the outage.

As always our support team is always ready to assist if any questions or concerns are to be had.

Thank YOU for choosing WebHSP!

Hi Tim,

It will indeed affect the POP server in that during the upgrade. After the upgrade POP users that use the 'Leave a copy of message on server' feature of many email clients may re-download all of the messages. This is normal.

It is not very often I can say this, but the upgrade completed faster then anticipated and you should now once again be able to resume your emailing day.

As always if you run into any problems, please place a support ticket.

Thank you for patience and cooperation.
